Keynote Speech 1: Low Power Integrated Circuit Design

Akira Matsuzawa received B.S., M.S., and Ph. D. degrees in electronics engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1976, 1978, and 1997 respectively. In 1978, he joined Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd (Panasonic). On April 2003, he joined Tokyo Institute of Technology and has been a professor. He has been researching in mixed signal technologies, RF CMOS circuit design for SDR and millimeter-wave CMOS transceivers, and advanced data converters. He retired from Tokyo Institute of Technology on March 2018 and becomes an honorary professor. Now he is a president of Tech Idea Co., Ltd., founded by himself. He served as the guest editor in chief for special issue on analog LSI technology of IEICE transactions on electronics three times, the guest editor for special issues of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, the committee member for analog technology in ISSCC, the IEEE SSCS Distinguished lecturer, the chapter chair of IEEE SSCS Japan Chapter, and the vice president of Japan Institution of Electronics Packaging. He received the IR100 award in 1983, the R&D100 award and the remarkable invention award in 1994, the ISSCC evening panel award in 2003, 2005, 2015, and MEXT science and technology award in 2017. He is an IEEE Fellow since 2002, and an IEICE Fellow since 2010.

Keynote Speech 2: 2D electronics – Status, prospects, and challenges

Frank Schwierz received the Dr.-Ing. and Dr. habil. degrees from Technische Universität (TU) Ilmenau, Germany, in 1986 and 2003, respectively. Presently he serves as Privatdozent at TU Ilmenau and is Head of the RF & Nano Device Research Group. His research interests include semiconductor device physics and novel device and material concepts for future transistor generations. Dr. Schwierz is Senior Member of the IEEE. He serves as a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Electron Devices Society and as an editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices. Moreover, he contributed to the Emerging Research Devices Chapters of the 2013 and 2015 ITRS (International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors) editions and is currently contributing to the Heterogeneous Integration Roadmap. His paper "Graphene transistors" published in Nature Nanotechnology has been cited over 3000 times.

Keynote Speech 3: Thin Film Electronics for Miniature Sensors

Ioannis (John) Kymissis is currently a professor with Columbia University, USA. He received the S.B., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Boston, USA, in 1998, 1999, and 2003, respectively. His research interests include the fabrication, characterization, and applications of thin film electronics, with a particular focus in the applications of organic semiconductors and recrystallized silicon devices. He has received several awards for his work, including the IEEE EDS Paul Rappaport Award, the MIT/DOE Clean Energy Prize, the IEEE ComSoc Award for Outstanding Paper on New Communications Topics, and the NSF CAREER Award. He served as a vice chair of IEEE Electron Device Society (2012-2015) and serves as the Chair of the IEEE EDS/SSCS New York Section Chapter since 2011. In addition to his teaching and research work, he also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Society for Information Display and the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices (IEEE TED).
