Xi'an, which was called Chang'an in ancient times, is the capital city of Shaanxi Province. It is located in the middle of China. As one of the top ten national central cities of China, Xi'an is also a center of innovation, knowledge, and technology in Asia and functions as the manufacturing base of large aircraft in China. Since there are many key institutions of higher education in the city, Xi'an is one of the most powerful cities in China in the areas of science and technology. With the large and important bases of scientific research, higher education, national defense technology, and hi-tech industries in middle and western China including electronic information technology industry and the aviation/space industry, Xi'an is unique as one of the largest central cities in China with powerful science and technology in addition to complete industry categories.

As a famous historical and cultural city in the world, Xi'an is ranked first among the ancient capitals in China as the city with the highest number (13) of the dynasties taking it as their capitals.

•       · Xi'an is the cradle of the Chinese nationality and the birthplace of the Chinese civilization.
•       · In remote antiquity of China, “Lantian Ape Man” lived in the region of Xi'an;
•       · In the Neolithic Period, “Banpo Villagers” settled here to set up their tribes;
•       · In the 11th century BC, Zhou Dynasty established the two capitals near Xi’an which initiated the brilliant history of                 Xi'an as a thousand-year capital of China.
•       · The city was first established more than 3100 years ago and it has been taken as a capital for 1129 years for 13                         dynasties, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Xin, Eastern Han, Western Jin, Former Zhou, Former Qin,                       Later Qin, Western Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui, and Tang.
